The Adelaide Jazz Club is a pop-up collaboration between a group of friends who love to promote jazz. Founded in 2017 by Mark Keough after visiting the Brisbane Jazz Club, we seek to promote, educate and keep alive popular and accessible jazz. One day we hope to have our own venue for the education, development and presentation of all forms of jazz.

Luke Thompson Sings the Chet Baker Songbook - Review

We asked Adelaide Jazz Club board member Clive Jeffries for his take on Saturday night’s gig [3 August]

Another fabulous night out had by all at The Adelaide Jazz Club in the Carclew Ballroom.

Luke Thompson and his ‘All Star’ ensemble sent everyone home smiling after two sets of selected numbers from the extensive Chet Baker songbook.

Luke’s enthusiasm and knowledge of Chet Baker’s musical story unfolded perfectly through his own easy, confident style with a stage presence that only comes from a seasoned performer.

Backed by some of Adelaide’ top jazz contemporaries in their own right – brothers Sam and Ben Riley delivering the flawless rhythm section, Paul Whitney on guitar and special guest David Goodwin on piano and trumpet.

This is a combo that we all want to see again… watch this space!
