Marmalade Circus
Homegrown quirky jazz, with feisty world grooves and a smattering of cabaret.
Mark Simeon Ferguson has been making music that goes its own way since the 1990s — and Marmalade Circus have the devoted following to prove it.
Quirky jazz, feisty world grooves, a smattering of cabaret — and underneath it all, the compositional muscle of one of Australia’s most distinctive musician-composers. Ferguson’s writing has been performed by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, the Adelaide String Quartet, and the JazzSA Superbands. Marmalade Circus have played Sydney Festival’s Jazz in the Domain to 80,000 people, and were the smash hit of the Queens Street Jazz Festival here in Adelaide in 2024.
“Unquestionably world class.” — The Independent Weekly
“The enthusiasm and virtuosity with which they played was infectious... the best night out I had for quite a while.” — RipItUp
This March, the full Marmalade experience will be served up for Adelaide Jazz Club at Waves: Warren Heading on trumpet, Tom Pulford on reeds, Jasmine Hall on trombone, Shireen Khemlani on bass, John McDermott on drums, and Ferguson at the piano.
